Apparently, Calderdale Council’s Licensing Committee has rejected a request to lift a condition on the club’s licence requiring its dancers to “wear a non-transparent g-string or similar piece of clothing on the appropriate part of the body” at all times, by a vote of five to four:

Nude lap dancing application rejected by councillors (Halifax Courier, 20/10/14)

'Objections were raised by Angela Eddison, director of the women’s centre on Silver Street, Halifax.

“We’re concerned about community safety in its broadest sense.”'

Is someone trying to sneak the debunked Lilith Report in through the back door?

Note too the "WHAT-ABOUT-THE-KIDDIES? WHAT-IF-IT-WAS-YOUR-WIFE-OR-DAUGHTER?!!" style comment, with a novel racist twist, beneath the article.

Some of the best dances I ever saw were at the Scotty when they had a similar restriction in place. Same for Queen Anne too in between licences yonks ago. The thrill was when some girls waived the rules and skirted, briefly, round the restriction. The garment was never removed of course. Breath was never so bated...

So, Calderdale councillors get to play out this sorry farce all over again, with the 'usual suspects' reciting their set pieces on cue...

In the on-line poll. 26% currently say the girls should keep their g-strings on, 74% say not. Which does prompt the thought about what the 26% think of the club generally.

La Salsa made another bid this year to overturn the restriction that dancers must wear g-strings at all times.
Halifax Courier, 6 June 2018

But they were in the end not successful
Halifax Courier, 10 Oct 2018

Calderdale Council have also now adopted a maximum of one club in the area

La Salsa gets it license after a councillor gets off his arse and goes visit. I love the statement from the dancers about stop interfering.

Licence renewed again

despite the usual objections, including an implication that the club encourages violence against women.
