Sorry. I still struggle a little to post links here and should have checked that the original one above worked. Now corrected, and

here

is the application on the council website, though it refers only to "regulated entertainment".

consultation ends

'Ukip’s Ron Hurrell ... said: “I am opposed. The applications are considered from a legal point of view and the law is not concerned with morality. I will ask if the police are capable of policing it. They are already stretched beyond their limits and there is talk about future cuts.” Nearby businesses include a children’s play centre, a nursery and a dance school have classes until 9.30pm. The council will consider public safety, the prevention of crime, disorder and public nuisance and the protection of children.'

Some of us would point out that lap-dancing clubs need no more policing - perhaps less - than any average nightclub.

The club wants to open at 2000 - surely a bit late for a nursery and play centre to be operating?

approved

'... lawyer David Dadds, representing applicant Glenn Smith, said: "Most customers want to come discreetly, use the facilities and go".'

And the place still got a licence!

(What a dump, BTW.)

Not sure exactly what takes place here.
The website mentions burlesque but Facebook/Twitter only talks about the non-adult entertainment.
All seems a bit coy.

I get the impression from the article that Galore isn't a full-time strip club, but rather a bar / nightclub with an SEV licence for late-night striptease. It's also possible that, like the Box in Soho, the 'adult entertainment' is burlesque rather than pole dancing, but with provision for a greater degree of nudity than would otherwise be permitted.
