There are four such venues already in Leicester, and the council has set a limit of five - which, in the current environment, seems quite generous.

Re: LE1 1JX Chasers, Leicester
And they're trying to play the 'inappropriate location' card - surprise, surprise!
Re: LE1 1JX Chasers, Leicester
I'm guessing if it is within 10,000 miles of them it is inappropriate. As the are the only objectors it really comes over as a desperate ploy... more desperate than normal.

Little sympathy for their views in the Comments appended to the article.

Helen Everett has just added this comment: "I am exercising my democratic right as a citizen of Leicester to object to our elected councillors granting a licence to a Sexual Entertainment Venue without having due regard to the local authority's Public Sector Equality Duty under the Equality Act 2010."
Yesterday "Spud 2018" noted: "You forget that there's a major strand of feminism - not all of it by any means, but a major strand exemplified by the likes of Julie Bindel et. al - which holds that women should be strong, independent and free to direct the course of their own lives ... provided that they do only those things that the feminist intelligentsia agree with. Do something that they don't like and woe betide you."

Re: LE1 1JX Chasers, Leicester
Precisely: some people seem to be of the view that their 'democratic rights' override anyone else's, not to mention workers' rights. This is about ideology, not local democracy, and also smacks of narcissism.

Comment from a dancer known to some of us: "Good old Spud. We need more people like him."
