Liverpool
The Blue Leopard in Leeds has opened a second club in Liverpool. They have also created a new website at http://www.blue-leopard.com/.

Kieron F, 16th Dec 2003

There is X, in the city in Liverpool. This is an old cinema and is a very classy place. The club itself is on three floors, and is just down from Lime St. station

Further to recent posts, Merseyside punters should make a beeline again for the Dock Road area of Bootle, as new venues have sprung up recently:

Kerries (ex-Ninas): everything else changes but Ninas remains the same (except for the name!).

Location: corner of Dock Rd (Regent Rd) and Millers Bridge, Bootle.
Shows: Tues 9.30 10.30 11.00pm, Thurs 9.30 10.30 11.00pm, Fri 5.30 6.30 7.00pm. Three spots. Different girls every night.
Parking: plenty of space on main road outside.
Atmosphere: dog-rough but non-threatening. Trade is mostly passing lorry-drivers, with the occasional drunk to lighten the mood. Friendly bar-staff. Ale price reasonable.
Acts: big audience participation usually the norm (don't be the first to volunteer, though! - can get messy/painful/humiliating depending on the girl). But if you're in luck... Action takes place on a small stage, but punters stand on its periphery. A perfect arrangement! Of late, some of the new girls seem to be more amateurish/sullen, but once a week you're guaranteed to see/feel something that raises a smile (at least!).
Rating- 4/5
Shenanigans **NEW**: two-minute walk from Kerries(Ninas).

Location: corner of Derby Rd and Millers Bridge, Bootle.
Parking: a few spaces outside, or leave the car outside Ninas and walk.
Shows: Fri about 6.00pm onwards, two or three spots. possibly also doing Thurs nights about the same time as Ninas(9.30). This venue has just started strippers, and seems to have loads of potential.
Atmosphere: "Irish" bar, non-threatening. Friendly bar-staff. Cheap ale.
Acts: appears to use a different agency to Ninas, with "hotter", raunchier gals (on average). Audience participation the norm.
Rating- 4.5/5
The Woodhouse **NEW**: five-minute walk from Shenanigans.

Location: Derby Rd, Bootle (head towards Liverpool, it's on the right)
Parking: poor, but you can usually find a speck in the side-street on the other side of Derby Rd.
Shows: Fri about 6.20pm onwards, two or three spots.
Atmosphere: worker's pub, middle-aged, non-threatening trade. Reasonably priced ale. FREE SANDWICHES/FOOD.
Acts: seems to use the same girls as Ninas. a bit disorganised at the moment.
Rating- 3/5
St. George's Tavern **NEW**: Bootle town centre. Location: Marsh Lane, Bootle, next to Bootle Strand rail station, directly opposite the Police Station(!).

Parking: municipal car park opposite the Police Station (free after 6 pm).
Shows: Fri approx 6.00pm onwards, two spots
Atmosphere: bouncer on the door, young punters boisterous/loud rather than threatening. Takes an age to get served at the bar.
Acts: mostly on a stage/floor that is difficult to see from the main bar. Not much audience participation, other than being singled out to join the girl on stage. Same girls as Ninas.
Rating- 2.5/5
Raffles: Walton

Location: Rice Lane, Walton, almost opposite the Hospital.
Parking: poor; tiny pub car-park (if you can get in it, you're guaranteed to be blocking someone in/be blocked in). Sidestreets not much better.
Shows: Mon 5.40 6.40pm, Fri 5.40 6.40pm - two spots.
Atmosphere: Awful. Ale price extortionate. Morose barstaff. Landlord a pillock, who frequently "leans" on punters who are not buying as much ale as he would like. You cannot get in now without buying tickets in his compulsory "raffle." Has been known to intervene to stop the act if it gets too "raunchy."
Acts: Mostly tired, go through the motions routines.
Rating- 1/5

The Caradoc: Crosby Rd South, Seaforth, seems to have stopped its shows a while back.

Dreamer's Fantasy Bar

Situated in Old Hall Street Liverpool, this is a place with which I've become very familiar over the past year. The club advertises itself as a lap dancing club with an admittance price of £10, lap dancing is a misnomer now but up until last June for a fiver that was exactly what you got a dancer rubbing her naked bottom directly on your groin. This despite the clubs entertainment stating that there had to be a six inch gap between dancer and client. Also, for ten pounds per dancer from those girls who were up for it, you could get a 'lesbian show' which concluded with the girls taking it in turns to go down on each other. Obviously there were varying degrees of enthusiasm but in all the dances I saw both girls did 'the deed' getting a good four or five licks in on target. However thanks to a police raid and a nice visit from representatives of the inland revenue in June all that's gone. Along with a few of the girls who'd not been declaring their income and quit in haste.

So what does it cost to get dances. Well your £10 admittance fee includes the price of your first fantasy dollar, others are available at £5 a piece from the bar. In exchange for those dollars you get one of the girls dancing for you for the length of one record. The strip goes all the way to full nudity (knickers usually pulled down to her knees), though routines vary most get to the full monty stage by about the last third of the record. The lap dancing does now involve a gap of at least two inches and deliberate bumping and grinding has ceased to be.

The clubs situated in a cellar that used to be used as a Chinese restaurant. It's currently in the process of a not particularly well organised refurbishment, damp and quite frankly horrid carpeting having given way to plain hardboard flooring. The lighting varies throughout the club: in some areas you get a good view of the goods, in others you have to hope your eyes adjust or it's mostly shadows. Heating and air-conditioning is minimal to say the least.

Drinks, well I only drink bottled beer and in the Spirit of Christmas that went up from £2.80 to £3.00 a bottle at the beginning of December. But that's not really to bad for such a venue. The soft drinks tend to be flat from the pumps so drivers beware. The only other point is that the bar staff have a funny idea what constitutes an empty, keep an eye on your drink if you don't want it to disappear a third full.

They have a stage and a pole but it's unused principally because nobody bothers to watch from the audience when any of the girls actually poledance. It does come in handy for tying the victim of a stag do to before the girls humiliate him in various ways with taking his clothes off pouring water down his briefs and a little playful flogging. But that's as far as it goes; otherwise there are no extras.

The girls are generally a very fine selection at weekends though somewhat thinner on the ground Monday through Thursday, Say 12-20 on Friday and Saturday and probably around just 7 on weekdays. The problem on weekdays is lack of heat which leads to unhappy freezing strippers and lack of doormen which can lead to groups of local yobs acting as if they own the place and trying to intimidate smaller groups of punters and blokes in suites in general. Weekend visits may involve longer waits for dances and shorter conversation time with the girls but the selection is a lot better and anyone causing trouble will get thrown out.

To the girls then, let me nominate my weekend top 6.

Joanna, 5'6" of pretty blond dancer - ok, not blond when she drops her knickers, but let's preserve the myth. One of the most talented lap dancers and an enthusiastic lesbian show performer in the good old days. Though those glory days are past she's still well worth at least one fiver as not only is she a great dancer, whose slim trim frame carries a lovely all over golden brown tan, but she will generally spare you a record or so of her time to chat each side of her dance. She's a good conversationalist and for the few minutes involved wil make you feel like she cares. She works Friday and Saturday nights,

Paris. Granada Men and Motors viewers will know her as Nicky from such programmes as Playbozs and Blackpool Rocks. Another talented blond, who switches between sexy secretary and a most disreputable school girl, tends not to hang around to chat as much as Jo but is well worth the effort of giving her dance a try, you'll spot her immediately as one of the most beautiful women in the room. Available Thursday through Sunday in the winter and spring. But works Blackpool on Saturdays during the season.

Lisa. Another occasional GMM starlet. The elfin blond beauty is unfortunately only available on Saturdays, she is a gorgeous friendly chatty little girl (of 23) and a very fine dancer.

Helen. Just to prove that I'm not blond obsessed, let me present this buxom brunette. At six foot in heels she guarantees to fill your eyeline with a beautiful pair of breasts. Another one of the girls who is prepared to stop and chat to you for awhile.

Rowen, a new starter who hopefully won't have been put of by the lack of Christmas rush (with six active lap dancing clubs, Liverpool is overstretched at present, the girls tend to be a little worried as a result so have the decency to buy dances if you go in). Delicious and fresh in her outlook still a blond with a fine curvaceous body and a beautiful smile.

And last but not least Levi. Black hair, and a tan she must be constantly working on, probably physically has the most perfect body in the place, has described herself as 'less ladylike' that the other dancers. Which can be witnessed by the way she caresses herself during her dances. well worth a look.

My only advice if you visit Dreamers is to take some money with you. If you go in a group take the wherewithal to buy a few dances each - £25 each should be enough, plus admittance and drink money. That way you'll certainly find yourselves the centre of attention for beautiful women. If you just turn up and watch other peoples dances and you'll get ignored - smiles are a lot more attractive than pouts!

My main reason for emailing however, was to comment on Mai Ling's posting about Liverpool strip venues. She is correct in saying that the area has shown a marked decline. About five years ago, Merseyside had at least twenty pubs featuring striptease at least once a week. Most centred around the Dock Road in Liverpool and most functioned on a Friday evening. That meant, with a little careful planning and some fast transport, it was possible to clock anything up to half a dozen strippers between the hours of five and eight. The downside was that most pubs hired just one girl per night, usually to do just three strips, and there were some awful slags working the circuit. So, if you picked a bad night, you could end up watching an awful lot of horseflesh But if I suffered some atrocious haridans, I also witnessed some absolute belters. I wonder how many of your surfers were lucky enough to feast their eyes on Jody or Mandy or Skye or Portia or Danielle or Anna, or the fabulous Mai-Ling herself.

Unfortunately, Liverpool striptease is now virtually a thing of the the past. Over the last few years an awful lot of pubs have closed on Merseyside, including most of the striptease joints. I cannot give up to date information on what is left, because of temporary domestic difficulties. However, apart from the wine bar in Rice Lane, which Mai-Ling mentioned, (and which I didn't know about, but will clock at the earliest opportunity), the only pubs where I believe striptease still survives are Ninas (Tuesday nights, Thursday nights and Friday evenings) and the Caradoc (Friday evenings). Both are at the Bootle end of the Dock Road. If anyone can provide more up to date information, I'd be glad to read it.

Regarding Mai-Ling, if you've never seen her you can have no idea what you're missing. She is delightfully small, deliciously nubile, and exotically Asian featured (as you might imagine), and possessing a delicate yellow skin and long flowing scented hair. She is so quiet and unassuming, the complete antithesis of the archetypal brassy tart, that it is impossible to picture her as a stripper - until you see her in action. If you get the chance to see her, don't miss it!

One final point worth raising: whatever disadvantages Liverpool striptease possessed, it does seem to have been much more in your face than most of the London attractions. Indeed, only one of the Liverpool venues I ever visited resembled a typical London strip pub. That one was Daly's, which used to feature three girls, two strips each, on Thursday and Friday afternoons. There the girls danced on a stage; touching was strictly forbidden; and the strippers were escorted on and off by a pair of very thick looking bouncers. In practically every other pub, the shows took place on the barroom floors among the punters, with most of the girls giving out gropes galore. For that matter, several pubs used to run occasional private "parties" upstairs with the strippers taking part in sex shows and gang bangs. I should add that Mai-Ling was an exception. Where other strippers relied on a dirty show to fill the jug, she needed nothing more than gorgeous Asian looks and winsome feminine personality.

Thie venue in LIVERPOOL is probably one of the nicest of the Liverpool strip clubs. The area has seen a decline in the number of regular venues this year but hopefully this will all change. I work quite regular at a place called RAFFLES WINE BAR on Rice Lane (Tel: 0151 4747474 - I think!). They have shows every Monday and Friday at 5.30 and the girls do 2 ten minute shows. The place is quite nice inside and every one is a great laugh

Mai-Ling (www.naked-asian.com), 2nd Jan 2002

Just thought I'd send in a report from my visit to Liverpool last night. We arrived at Sugars quite early, about 6.30, there were 3 girls working and about 15 punters in. 2 of the girls were not much to look at but the other was a stunner, and she could *really* dance, however, the place felt very seedy, was a bit grotty and the music far too loud so we left. Angels was a breath of fresh air, much better atmosphere and about 12-15 girls to choose from. The place was dead quiet (I went on a Saturday about two years ago and it was packed) which was great because just about every girl sat for 10 mins or so with us (no pressure to buy a dance) and they were really talkative and friendly (I know - it's their job to be!).

Some of the girls were outstanding, Sara, Suzy, Sonia (from Italy-v.nice), Claire, Faye, but special mention goes to Becky from Bolton who gave one of the best dances I've had in a long time. All in all I would highly recommend Angels to anyone visiting the city.

Dean, 1 Aug 2001

Dreamers - Old Hall Place - near the Thistle Hotel by the riverside.
Angels - Cumberland Street - near Premier Lodge hotel.
Sugars - somewhere near Angels - can't remember street name.
All these charge £10 admit to include first drink. Dances are £5 each and fully nude. All dances are very close to you (but no touching allowed). Some stage shows as well which are free to watch. Drinks are reasonably priced. Liverpool center is fairly safe to walk around at night. Of the three I would favour Angels for the better lighting and stage show. I sometimes visit on my own and don't feel out of place, especially midweek when the places are quiet.

Excellent value and girls are generally very attractive & young (early 20s), typically students paying their college fees! Unless there are other parties with drunks etc, the atmosphere is very relaxed, sometimes too quiet as during the week the places are not that busy. Maybe best to avoid Fri/Sat evenings if you want more time to chat with the girls etc.

More Liverpool Reviews plus a good deal of opinionated me

Aphrodite’s
11-17 Harrington Street
Liverpool
L2 9QA

The Club in Liverpool I retreated to after Dreamers closed.

Aphrodite’s is a lap-dancing club and it does what it says on the tin, (actually no cause lap dancing involves bump and grind of dancers derriere in your lap, and there’s no contact in Aphrodite’s. But that’s the misuse of the term we’re stuck with it seems). There’s no poncy evening dress wearing inflicted on the dancers, the gals can pick their own ‘fantasy’ outfits which means you get variety, a sexy secretary here, a nurse there, a gal who knows its pays to advertise in just bra and thong and knee boots over there.

Price £5. What you get, Monty the full! And very well delivered for the most part, possibly not by girls who’ve just moved there from Angels who always seem to dance at fast forward for the first few weeks but watching how it should be done they pretty soon catch up. I’ve forgotten the identity of the first time fast-forwarder who caught me with her knee straight in the unmentionables.

None of your separate dancing areas either which shouldn’t be used as an excuse to letch at dancers who are performing for other people. If you like what you see put your hand in your pocket and spend £5 you tight git, you’ll get a better view of everything up closer and personnel.

Pole dancing, nope, just used for flogging purposes. If you’re sat on either side of the mini stage on which that’s situated consider moving, as you will get hit by the back swing. You also have to wonder at the aim of some of these young ladies the idea is to hit your target across the buttocks not across the lower back where the kidneys live. I mention no names but it will be no fun when someone winds up in the hospital.

Will you be impressed by the dancing staff, hell yes, a gorgeous body of young women, allow me to add a phwwwaaaarrrr.

Any probs with the management or bouncers. Nope if you behave so do they.

Smoking. Outside on the street, did have a slight issue getting back in last time so I’d suggest if your a smoker going in for more than one dance keep the ticket issued at the door which gets you a free dance till the last dance your having. Otherwise on a very busy night you might encounter problems.

Solid all round excellent entertainment for those of us who like to admire young women who take their clothes off to music for money. Sorted.

When a club has changed its name 4 times in 6 years you’ll know its got problems.

Location, location, location. Strip clubs to a certain extent are better off out of the way cause you don’t to be going into one just as buses full of people who might know you go by on the High Street....Or more importantly know aged parents who might be shocked. Hence my never in the same area code theory. However this one is tucked away on the edge of the nightlife area of Liverpool with the problem that nobody seems to want to take the trouble to find out its there.

And also if your opening a club don’t place it down a alleyway people always seem to dump large skips in so no one can see the door.

But you can over do it and if like this place you’re going to need to advertise, particularly if you’re competing with five other clubs, they try but it never seems to work. In the days when it was Rude I drifted in oft times due to the fine quality of the ladies dancing there, however it was never full and thus the better looking gals drifted off elsewhere gradually and the ones who stayed became more and more despondent. I eventually just frequented the place to catch up with a girl who worked behind the bar who used to dance at Dreamers.

But then she got a job in a proper pub with customers and tips, and my reasons for dropping in became curiosity and occasional boredom.

Rude or whatever was in fact though the best set up club in Liverpool, good stage, good none dancing seating area and a really well set up series of booths out the back for pretty fems to strip in for you. Table dancing in this instance, complete strip again for £5.

But the lighting in the ceiling broke and rather than fix it the numpties running the place persisted with just the under seat lighting putting you into a bizarrely lit situation of almost having to take the girls word for it that she’d stripped.

I used to ask confused, why don’t they fix the lights, Aphrodite’s is packed, people get to see what they pay for in there, would it be a plan to extend the same curtesy?

And the line that is always rolled out at such points. “We cater to a completely different clientele than Aphrodite’s.”

Yeah a very few people who spend very little money, and meantime your dancers have gone from a fine body of fems to folk just starting or sacked from all the places they could earn a decent living because all the best gals left for greener pastures. (Chester in my best girl there’s case!)

It got worse, they went to evening dress's only for the gals, this does not work unless you get somebody approving the garments, if you don’t you get half dress’s and almost nothing there at all dresses that look basically slutty (The girls all know it pays to advertise and so go for something that shows the max flesh). If you leave them to pick their own fantasy wear that will do the trick.

And in a blind blowing display of lunacy they had put the price of a dance up to £10 in a city where tradition states firmly its £5. Why......”We cater to a ....”

There where on the last night I was in and discovered the price rise 8 customers in there and 4 of them were completely p****d, I had one dance and left. Very shortly afterwards it closed, I was firmly convinced that was it, nobody would be stupid enough to use that location again.

It’s now reopened as Dreamers!

Dreamers, what! The only possible explanation for that choice is that their hoping taxi drivers asked by parties of tourists to. ‘Take me to Dreamers,’ will drive them there by mistake.

I only spoke to the doorman, £10 to get in was £5, still £10 a dance.

John. “Yes but its £5 everywhere else man.”
Doorman: “Yes but we cater to a........”

I could not be bothered and went off to Aphrodite’s. Bet they’ve still not fixed the lights. Anyone who can be bothered with coughing up the money to get in let me know. Or if some organisation looking for strip club reviews forwards me a £20 I’ll risk it.

Angels VIP

I am trying to do a level and fair review of this place despite serious reasons to be aggrieved with its quite beautiful staff. I’ll explain my axe to grind later.

This club stands on the ashes of the best damn strip club in Liverpool. Dreamers the original.

Its struggled from the beginning, when I originally checked the place out it was in a two girls for every boy situation, its customer base has improved somewhat but they still can’t fill a third of the area Dreamers used to with punters.

Staff, damn pretty, evening dress except for one hour of fantasy wear, and bearing in mind how much fitter the gals looked in their ‘fantasy’ outfits what’s with this evening dress rubbish.

“Oh well we cater to a different class of.....” Yeah right.

£5, full Monty. VIP area, £50 for half an hour with the gal of your choice. I went in for experiment sake with the young lady who’d quite frankly offered the dirtiest £5 dance of the girls there I had tried. Except for one brief pause for breath she danced solidly for the whole half hour, paying no attention to distance rules and rubbing her attractive bottom my groin in a very pleasant manner. (It’s not grassing if you don’t like the club!)

I very nearly experienced an accident, and it seems quite a few other people had. (I asked her, "Anyone ever come in their pants.", she replied "Yes quite a few.") Of course it could be that this particular blond was just an excellent find on my case, I certainly didn’t see her around on subsequent trips and presume she was caught offside and sacked.

Then on subsequent trips we have the downhillness, girls no less pretty but the policy seems to have become to advise anyone who mentions Dreamers that it closed because its staff where whoring, dealing drugs, and running games of chance on the premises. Certainly four girls on the trot when I said I used to go there advanced the same slanders.

Principle I suppose being that if you can’t be better than them spread venomous lies about them instead. My expressed counters that I had been attending Dreamers once a month for 5 years before it closed and nobody ever offered to sell me any sex, drugs, or roulette wheel seem not to be believed. Oh no they must have been being oh so very naughty to have been that much more successful than we are.

No darlings they were just better than you, maybe you should try harder instead of trying to excuse your clubs failings by dragging through the mud the reputations of fellow dancers your not even fit to clean the thigh boots of.

But I digress, if you want to go in and look at naked girls feel free as its not a bad club if you don’t have any happy memories of the place to have spoiled by the above venom.

Oh and avoid the Klingon I got last time, really need to become less of a gentlemen so I can just come out and say. “Look luv get the point of the silence, that second was just charity you know, see how my eyes constantly focus on that fit blond in the dress with the cut-out sides over there. Clear the area so I can get her over.....Oh now look she’s now dancing for some other lucky sod....God, love the one your with. Do you suppose I could have another dance?”

According to X in the City's website, the Wood Street site is already open, so I'll start a new thread for the club accordingly.
