Rotherham to consult - belatedly

Post by Victor23 »

Council to seek residents' views on sex establishments

"The council's cabinet will discuss the issues at a meeting on Monday, November 19, where members are expected to agree to a public consultation being launched."

A bit late in the day for this sort of exercise?

I haven't been able to trace any further media coverage - nor any existing venues in Rotherham itself.

This public consultation is probably just a Haringey / Waltham Forest / Enfield-style exercise in legal arse-covering by Rotherham Borough Council; reading between the lines, I'm guessing that the actual decision has already been made behind closed doors, and just needs to be rubber stamped officially.

If the survey is on line be interested to see it. If anyone sports it first.

Well spotted, nothing much about Rouge from Googling except the anodyne social-media guff.

But I found a 2011 review on an elusive website; this is an extract:

"Rouge is down a flight of stairs ... It consists of a smallish lounge, with seating for about 20-30 customers and with a small bar at the far end. I got myself a drink and surveyed the scene. About 10 or so girls, some very attractive 8s or 9s, were mostly sitting chatting to the guys. There was a small stage with a pole but no show while I was there. Along the opposite wall, left of the entrance and past the pay-in desk was a row of 4(?) alcoves, curtained off, where the private dances took place. I was approached by a tall brunette ... who was genuinely surprised to meet an out-of-towner. I gathered that all the customers and most of the girls were local."

Of course seven years later, it could be different ...

Well spotted - I stand corrected, and have added Rouge to the listings.

The consultation is out and has no checks really about who fills in the form so get going peoples. They allow for women's groups so I pointed out they need a box for club goers.

Odd over three quarters of the 422 response wants more regulations. Now I wonder is that about protecting the dancers? Not before the council see the report on Monday but I think a FoI after to find out exactly what happened.
